This assignment’s overall objective was to develop the IAWD 5-Year Roadmap 2024-2028 with a clear focus on long-term financial sustainability.

The International Association of Water Service Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area (IAWD) was founded in 1993 following the political transformations in CEE countries of the Danube region. IAWD is an independent organisation of water and wastewater utilities, national water utility associations, and other stakeholders engaged in providing safe and reliable water services for over 80 million people living in the Danube region.

In close cooperation with IAWD’s management, the Consultant;

  • identified the association's annual financial needs over five years to fulfil its services towards its members and partners;
  • reviewed the associations' current offers to members and partners and explored their suitability and/or limitations to allow for transforming into a self-reliant, financially stable association;
  • identified and proposed new activities and services as additional sources of income, also defining their business model;
  • reviewed IAWD's current organisational setup and made any recommendations for improvement;
  • developed a 5-Year Roadmap for 2024-2028 based on a Financial Business Model for 2024-2030.
